Alex's reading has greatly improved this year, and now he is about two thirds through the first Harry Potter book. He would have finished it already, but he has an interesting reading style. Alex likes to stop to discuss the story about every other sentence. Also, he enjoys referencing the table of contents so that he can do calculations on the chapter's length (how much left, how big it compared to others etc.) The one academic subject that is not natural to Alex is spelling (I wonder where he got that from!), and it is my conviction that reading is the best remedy. Here are the postcards that were sent to Michael and Alex's grandparents and greatgrandparents via Cardstore.com. I think of them as a mixture of public relations and propaganda. Read enough of their lives, and you can consider yourself a virtual grandparent/aunt/uncle. There are worse things.
