In popular entertainment much is made of young children asking "Why" questions. They are supposed to hound their parents and query them about topics ranging from the mundane to the profound. Michael has never really asked "Why questions."
However, that does not indicate a deficiency, or lack of curiosity; you see Michael asks an entirely different sort of question: "What if..." In matters ranging from the observable world to metaphysics, he often wants to know what would happen if a single factor changes. He is not so much concerned with what "is" as with what could be. Here are the postcards that were sent to Michael and Alex's grandparents and greatgrandparents via Cardstore.com. I think of them as a mixture of public relations and propaganda. Read enough of their lives, and you can consider yourself a virtual grandparent/aunt/uncle. There are worse things.
