Alex likes sweets, there is no doubt about that. He will always ask for a sweet, but to his credit he knows when to say when and rarely finishes them. What you may not know is that his enthusiasm is not limited to their consumption, and that he also enjoys partaking in their creation. He begs us to buy cake mixes and to let him bake. I think he gets a sense of satisfaction of creating something that is easily understood to be good.
In August, he is going to go to Cup Cake Camp (technically pastry chef camp) at the bakery, "Our Cup Cakery," where he acquired the do it your self cup cake pictured. Let us hope that he does not learn how to do it so well that his creations overcome his ability to stop when he is full :)

Here are the postcards that were sent to Michael and Alex's grandparents and greatgrandparents via Cardstore.com. I think of them as a mixture of public relations and propaganda. Read enough of their lives, and you can consider yourself a virtual grandparent/aunt/uncle. There are worse things.
